Learn scale drawing by designing something small
A drawing scale compares drawing size with real object size, in that order. At 5:1, a 30 mm object is drawn 150 mm long. At 1:5, that same object is drawn 6 mm long. Choose a key tag, L-bracket, phone stand or stepped block. Its rotatable 3D model and both scale drawings update together from the same profile. Compare the fixed original with the animated drawing on one shared grid. Multiply every length by the same factor, including hole diameters and distances between features, to keep the proportions.
Practise enlargements and reductions
Explore five scales, predict the size change and spot distorted drawings. Choose any of the four objects and a scale, then draw its front or side profile yourself. Each of the 20 combinations keeps its own attempt, with dimension lines directly on the rotatable object, size and hole hints, answer comparison and a check button. Switch between overall size, shape details and hole details to read the real measurements without a coordinate list. Focus drawing keeps the reference beside the paper, or in a compact panel above it on a phone. Or follow six guided challenges, from rectangular tiles to L-shaped parts and tags with holes. Use lines, rectangles and circles on a millimetre grid, or enter exact coordinates. Switch between orthographic and 3D views, zoom in, and measure any two visible surface points on the object with optional snapping. Or choose two points on your drawing with the paper ruler. Both rulers show real and scaled lengths without adding drawing marks. Checks compare dimensions and geometry wherever you position the drawing on the paper. They are practice feedback, not manufacturing approval.
Plan your own design on paper
Enter the dimensions of the small object you intend to build and choose an enlarged drawing scale. The real-size reconstruction shows the dimensions implied by your drawing. Dimension labels on a technical drawing describe the real object, even when its drawing is enlarged.
Download an A4 landscape SVG sheet and print at 100% or actual size. Turn off fit-to-page and measure the 50 mm calibration line. Screen size and browser zoom do not give a physically accurate ruler.
